I may have shared this here before, and if so, I am happy to share it again. This mantra has been part of my ‘toolkit’ for over 10 years and is one of my favorite and most powerful sonic tonics. It often automatically ‘comes on’ in my mind when I am in spaces in need of great healing, especially on a physical and heart level. It is one I return to again and again when my body and being needs extra support. The version I’ve shared below is my favorite to chant as the rhythm and cadence allows the potency of word to work through density and clear space for grace, the light of love, to permeate the layers of what is in need of healing. It is also a good length of time. 108 repetitions is also great.
The Medicine Buddha mantra is typically chanted as:
“Tayata Om Bekanze Bekanze Maha Bekanze Radza Samudgate Soha”
For effective results, proper pronunciation is important. Here’s a simplified guide:
Tayata: Meaning "it is like this," a form of affirmation.
Om: The universal sound, a sacred syllable that aligns the body with the vibration of the universe.
Bekanze: Means to "eliminate pain."
Maha Bekanze: Refers to the great pain being eliminated.
Radza Samudgate: Translates to the "King of healing."
Soha: A form of "may it be," or the sealing of the prayer.
Listen, chant or hum. Presence is power. All thanks and glory to the Most High for giving us the tools to return to our essence again and again, blessed be Thy Name.
